Son kills mother and bites own tongue after calling police

Police in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, say a man in his 20s killed his 58-year-old mother, called 110 to admit what he had done and then bit his tongue, seriously injuring himself.
TV Asahi reported that police received a call at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday from a man who claimed that he had just strangled his mother to death. Police went to the residence and found Kimiko Fukuyoshi collapsed on the floor in a room of her home. She was taken to the hospital, but declared dead a short while later.
According to police, after calling 110, the woman’s son bit his own tongue, requiring that he be sent to the hospital to receive medical treatment.
Police say that the son and his mother had been living together in the house and that after killing his mother, the young man had attempted to kill himself as well. Police said they will question the suspect further after he recovers.
